Is sun-in really that bad for your hair? I've used it for a while and its made my hair a really nice lighter shade, it has made it dryer but I just condition it and its fine. But when I was looking at what other people said they say that its really bad for your hair. Is this true?

YES, SUN-IN IS REALLY BAD FOR YOUR HAIR. the chemicals in it are quite scarey. .if you are brunette it gives you brassy orange splotches %26amp; streaks. if you are blonde it will eventually turn your hair an ugly tweety bird yellow color, sometimes white, and even an orange color. don't even think about trying to perm or color your hair if you are regular user. if you try to perm it, the hair will smoke. i had a customer that came in to get a perm, and tried to lie to me about using it. i did a test curl to be safe, and her hair began to smoke from the chemical reaction that was happening on her head. if you try to color over it, it never comes out the color you were going for. it tends to go reddish and in some cases i have seen orange. not to mention, all of those scarey chemicals in your hair at all times. it will really dry it out. think of it like pouring a bottle of rubbing alcohol and peroxide on your head at the same time, then going out to bake them in the sun . i know you are thinking you can just wash it out. you can't, once those chemical are in the hair, they have to grow out. like any other chemical service(ie. perms). quit using it. you will see such a difference over time in the health of your hair. look at it this way, if it was that easy to get highlights from a spray bottle, don't you think every hairstylist would use it to save time? you would be better off bleaching your hair. i hope i wasn't too harsh about this but i have really seen and delt with the scarey effects of this cheap product. the couple dollars isn't worth it because of the hundreds of dollars you will have to pay to try to rectify the problem. hope this helps.

i sure dont think. i get hte deep conditioning kind, and it makes mine soft, and beautifully highlighted.

i think it depends on your natural hair. if u hav dry hair, i would not use it, but if you don't it works just fine =D

yes and no. Im sure using it once or twice wont do any noticeable damage, but after using it repeatedly it will lift your hair color completely and may cause a lil brass like coloration and may dry your hair out as well.

well i just bought a bottle and i have thick medium/dark brown hair...i don't want my hair to turn orange hah but i think it depends if you have brital or damadged hair..just don't overload your hair with it maybe after you get out of the showere spray a few sprits and comb and blowdry that's what i am going to do i think it will work just fine then.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I had black hair, and I wanted it to lighten instead of me bleaching it. And so i tried sun in. I used it when I straightened my hair or used a blow dryer because it reacts to heat. And i was soo happpy. With in 2 weeks i was already noticing it lighten. By 3 months i was a very natural looking blonde. And i have dyed my hair A LOT and still this caused no damage because I always take care of my hair any way. Sure it wasnt compleatly and even color, but it looked nice.

i too have black hair and I've been using this product on and off since age 17.. now 25. I grew out my black natural hair but I hated black on me so I started over on my hair, it gives my hair a beautiful brownish light red hue.. but it's not horrible at all. I guess it only depends one people. I love the color that turned out for my hair!!! so far it's not damaging to my hair.
