I condition my thick hair with "hello hydration" from herbal essences and then blow dryer my hair 15 mintues later.it ends up dry and my layers stick out weirdly.what am i doing wrong?

the straightener i use is Remington "wet to straight", so even if my hair is a little moist it does a really good job with not a lot of frizz. there is also this spray i use after showering thats dove anti frizz and moisture, it;s in an blue bottle and helps before straightening or blow drying

i have that same problem and i hate it. what you do is that you go to the store and look up a shampoo that is for fizz and dry hair. that should work the most for you.

Well i think you are probably drying your to long and if you put the dryer on low then it will come out more hydrated and stay the way you want it. Also the conditioner you are using is good, that you are doing right. If this still doesnt help then you might want to use different shampoo. :) good luck on yahoo answers :)

Are you using a diffuser on the end of the blow dryer? If not that is what you need. Also try putting some anti-frizz product in it first and then blow dry. Herbal essence is not really a good line of product for frizzy hair, I recommend Redken products, the heat glide works well with blw drying,

do you move the dryer up the hair shaft, or down?

you should be blowing down, in the way you brush your hair. this will prevent breaking the shaft and causing split ends, dryness, and frizz :((

I think my hair is schizoid. Help?

So here's the deal. I have naturally very curly, very thick hair that is currently just past my shoulders (would be maybe an inch longer if straightened). At the roots and about an inch or two down, it's flat as a pancake. But then it starts curling and frizzing and poofing all over the place. I can't use shampoo for dry hair because then it makes my roots disgusting, and I can't use shampoo for oily hair because then my hair goes even dryer and poofier at the sides. Don't they make anything for "combination" hair, kind of like they do for people with oily/dry skin?

What would you guys recommend? Mostly I think I'd just like to give my roots a little more volume -- seems like it'd be easier than trying to tame the rest of my hair. I saw that Dove has something called a "root-lifting spray," but does it work? And how? Help, please, before I decide to go the Britney route and shave it all off.

maybe just some regular shampoo and curly hair conditioner then leave in conditioner on frizzy part of hair but not the roots.

Help! I hate the texture of my hair...any advice?

Okay so my hair is a little damaged from dying it and using heat hair tools- blow dryer and flat iron. I haven't dyed it for a couple months because I'm trying to give it a break. I use a flat iron and/or dryer 3-4 times a week. I feel like I have tried every product and home treatment possible to improve the texture of my hair and nothing has worked for me- even the expensive stuff I've only seen a SLIGHT improvement. The problem with my hair is that there is moderate breakage so it is dry and brittle, it is slightly frizzy, and also slightly wavy. Do you have any recommendations for treatments or products I can use to bring shine back to my hair? To make it soft, supple, and smooth?

Also, I don't like to always style it straight, but everytime I try to scrunch it with mousse, volume gel, and a diffuser it just looks like a bad perm from the 80s...its all fluffy and frizzy, when what I'm going for is pretty, subtle waves! Any good products, tools, or strategies for this?

Try some John Freida Frizz Ease. Put it on your hair while it is still wet. The you can let it dry naturally (curls) or blow dry it. It well help the shine and cut down the frizz.

At school, they teach us that ionic hair dryers are the best dryers to use in the salon because they get rid of static electricity and the heat bonds from the dryer bond with the shampoo, conditioner, and styling products and activate their ingredients and they work a lot better.

When I use it on my clients with longer hair, I see that it gets rid of static electricity in the hair...but thats about it lol.

I purchaced one of those Igea ionic dryers years ago, I do not notice any differance infact I have gone back to using my regular blowdryer, so I think it is up to you. Personally I do not see any differance.

I am not sure. But my hair dresser told me thar diffuser work best. If you cannot get one, or yours is broken, put a sock over a hair dryer and turn it on. It will make the air come out slower, but will leave you with gorgeous hair.

The reason why is the negative ions cause water molecules to explode ,making your hair dry way fast.

Regular dryers just causes evaporation.

The ions also hit open cuticle forcing them closed. that's why they make your hair so smooth and shiny.

The ions also help to "activate" styling product in your hair.

Also make sure you get a dryer with a ceramic heating element, like the Chi. Ceramic produces radiant heat that does not carry as far into your hair shaft as say a steel heating element. That way Your drying your hair, not drying OUT your hair.

Also always blow dry down the hair shaft. from roots to ends. That way your following the direction of the cuticle layer making it smoother. when you blow dry up the hair shaft you Will cause cuticle to lift.

so its better not to blow dry with your head upside down and blow it all over, (unless your late to work)lol
